Simply put, I have a kick ass IT team. We do nothing but deliver, the client is always thrilled and we once found a unicorn. Well, maybe it isn't quite that perfect, however over a dozen successful projects in a two year period, that isn't bad.
I always thought it was because I might be the greatest leader of my generation, alas, it was not to be as I discovered the real reason after reading this article by Dr. Travis Bradberry. In a nutshell, my team all have above average emotional intelligence and that is our major advantage.
Why, because any project requires building a relationship with your clients as quickly as possible, a relationship that is full of trust, respect and honesty. Once these qualities are in place, the reeeaaally good collaboration can happen which builds the foundation to project success. At this point, you have established a healthy culture and healthy culture can overcome things that are broke.
Now, the point of this article is that Digital Transformation is hard, in fact it may be one of the most difficult challenges that a corporation will face. The best way to achieve success is to build a healthy culture that is able to adapt to, learn and solve the many inevitable failures that will happen. And to do this, you need talent with high Emotional Intelligence.
